EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: Andy Marex

Who are you?

My name is Andreas Resch and I am a 21-year-old producer from Munich, Germany.

When did you start producing music?

Ehm, that’s a good question. I think it was 5 years ago. But since 2018 I try to do it more professionally. Before it was just a hobby for me.

Which style(s) of music are you currently producing?

My main style would be orchestral (production) music for TV/Radio/Enterprises…., but I am currently trying to gain a foothold in the EDM scene.

Why are you producing music? And more globally, what does “music” mean to you?

I think you can express emotions with all kinds of music really well. I also met a lot of amazing people in the past [through music].

According to you, what is the best way to develop a business in the music industry?

Connections and quality music!

Do you live from your musical activities? If not, do you plan to make a living from music in the future?

I currently study music at the university and fortunately my music and the placements I have currently pay my bills. So yes.

Do you have stuff in preparation, future collaborations, or personal projects?

Oh yes, I have. Can’t say too much but the next years will be epic:)

And for the producers out there:

In what Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) are you working? And why that one?

I started with FLStudio but changed to Ableton since it suits my work style better. Always felt pretty limited with FlStudio. So highly recommend Ableton.

On average, how much time do you spend in the studio on a typical day or week?

Hard to say as I also have university stuff to do but I still try to work at least 2 – 3 hours a day.

Let’s talk “The Rainbow Meadow”

What was your inspiration for this track?

My pet died and I wrote it for it.

How long did it take you to create this track from start to finish?

The basics were done in 2 – 3 hours but the polishing stage took quite a while.

What is the story behind this track?

When I thought about the track I imagined a huge meadow where all the animals go after death. A bit like heaven for us humans. This is how The rainbow meadow was born.

Finally:

Any important people in your life you wanna mention, thank, or talk about?

My buddy Dominik Hecker/Arkoon. Big inspiration and a great friend!

Anything you wanna add to end up this interview?

Never give up and do your thing!
