EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: AERIX and Avensis

Hi! How are you? How has life been treating you lately?

AERIX: It’s been really good, recently moved back to Norway after being stuck in Sweden for half a year. Now I’m back in the studio and can make some big moves again, or at least as soon as I’m out of quarantine.

Avensis: It’s really really good, I’m so happy because finally the corona is on the way to end and the gigs and parties have started. I finished tons of tracks which I cannot wait to release and I’m so hyped about it.

What happened since your last release with Eonity? What changed for you?

AERIX: I broke my last record for most played track on my Spotify, and gained quite a few new fans too!

Avensis: Well, a lot changed, I found people/team who care for my releases, or better say I found a family, that’s the best thing that can happen to an artist!

How would you describe your music in three words? Why did you choose these words?

AERIX: Groovy, bouncy and heavy. I love all these things in music, and I try to add as much of those spices into everything I do.

Avensis: Groovy, energetic and explosive.

How did you find your style?

AERIX: I’m always trying new things, I just follow my intuition and see whichever direction I want to go for every session, and it’s led to some really interesting tracks. I’m sure I have some kind of style traits but they seem to change from year to year depending on what I’m into at the moment. I like making all kinds of styles.

Avensis: Well I also experiment with the sounds, always try to find the groove and try to add as much energy to it as I can and at the same time I’m always looking and trying to make something different and unique. Always trying to do that and as I can see for now it is really working!

Who influenced your music the most?

AERIX: Right now I’d say SWACQ, Fisher, and Joyryde

Avensis: Seth Hills, Martin Garrix and BYOR

Do you prefer to collaborate with other artists or to work on your own?

AERIX: Definitely collaborate. Way more fun, and you can share the work to get double the amount of progress in half the time.

Avensis: Yes! I really want to collaborate with other artists so I can share my work with them and we can create something together combining both ideas. And of course, via music, we will found each other, know each other just as it happened with me and AERIX.

What is the most challenging part of collaborating with other artists?

AERIX: Finding the time to work together, the differing vision of the final result, and communications are the biggest ones for me.

Avensis: Combining both ideas in one and finding time to work together!

What will be the first thing you’ll do (in terms of musical activities) once the pandemic is over?

AERIX: Go to all the best music festivals, and hopefully perform on one or two of them!

Avensis: I’m gonna travel around the world. Got a few bookings already so I’m so happy about it and can’t wait!

Do you have stuff in preparation, future collaborations, or personal projects?

AERIX: I have three more planned tracks this year, and all of them with Avensis actually!

Avensis: I have around 5-6 on the way, so can’t wait to release them!

Let’s talk about “Falling Down”

What was your inspiration for this track?

AERIX: There wasn’t as much inspiration as it was experimentation. This track just magically took its shape during a splurge session where I just followed the flow and my intuition. I remember waiting around five days after the initial idea was finished before I listened to it again. When I listened back, I knew it was going to be a fantastic track. That’s when I sent it to Avensis and he loved it, and we sat down to finish it together.

Avensis: Well as AERIX said, this track came out really fast as an idea when he sent it to me I directly told him “let’s work on it and finalize the idea”. After we finalized the idea, more time was needed for this track to become perfect, which now you can listen to and experience – a perfect combination of sounds!

How fast did the track come together?

AERIX: Not fast at all, this was a tough one. We counted the versions when we were done and had about 50-60 exported versions of the track, and about the same amount of project files. But it ended up really well in the end!

Avensis: Not fast at all! But in the end, all the time we spent on it was worth it!

Finally:

Any important people in your life you wanna mention, thank, or talk about?

AERIX: I want to thank Avensis for sticking out with me for all of the hours of frustration we spent on this track, and for his great efforts working on the marketing side for us. I also want to thank my family for housing me during the six months I couldn’t get back to my apartment in Oslo. It’s been one hell of a ride!

Avensis: Thanks to AERIX for everything he has done for me, thanks for his time, and thanks for his support, he always supports me in everything and he is really honest which I appreciate a lot!

Thanks to my family and friends who support me all the time and thanks to Eonity for believing in this track!

Anything you wanna add to end up this interview?

AERIX: To anyone out there reading this — you’re awesome. Thank you for taking time out of your day to read this interview ❤️

Avensis: Take care of yourself, spread love, and always respect!

Thank you very much for your time!

Henrik Nyqvist, also known as AERIX, discovered music in his hometown Halmstad as a child. Fed up with what he saw as “bad music”, the then eight-year-old Swede used his father’s Macintosh to try to emulate his idols Tiësto and Armin van Buuren.

Little did, the now Oslo-based producer and songwriter, know that this vision would become his ultimate life passion, catapulting him as an upcoming electronic music producer and inspiring other musicians all over the world to collaborate across different genres and musical expressions.

He still works with his well-known energetic and bass-heavy house music. However, the self-proclaimed musical adventurer has also begun working on pop and Latino projects starring artists like Fabrizio, Nasrii, and many more. A testimony of his ever-growing musical expansion.
