Barong Family
Yellow Claw – Villian (ft. Valentina)
A pretty typical Tropical House track featuring solid vocal work from Valentina. While it’s very generic, it’s still a well structured and mastered song which would bring good vibes to any pool party it’s played at.

Bite This
Jauz & DJ Snake – Gassed Up
A 150 bpm Bass House track is definitely something that registered as a little bit different for me. The vocals are hypnotic are there are some strong melodies in the breakdown. The drop is a basic, one-note show so it’s simple but powerful if you’re in the mood. The second drop adds more energy and dynamism which rewards listeners who stick through the whole song. I expect we’ll be seeing more of this uptempo Bass House in the future.

Mike Rogers and Abee – What Should I Do
A fantastic midtempo track featuring some strong leading vocals and a slow, groovy bassline. Some obvious jazz influence guides this track into the 21st century with remarkable sound design and mastering to get the most out of this track.

Columbia Records
Calvin Harris & Dua Lipa – One Kiss
Piano House with female vocals. I can’t really think of anything else to say other than there’s star power in the title. If it weren’t for them, this track would have gotten lost in the fray. I mean it’s a solid track, serviceable, but nothing special.

DIM MAK
Steve Aoki & Laidback Luke feat. Bruce Buffer – It’s Time
With new releases each week, Steve Aoki is really looking to tear 2018 up. Mayhem was a pretty generic Big Room track, Pika Pika brought back some of the complextro vibes from EDM’s past, “It’s Time” follows the trend of taking Big Room melodies and just upping the tempo. With some Kura-esque leads for the melody, this track would certainly excite any party or festival crowd. Stil
Enormous Chills
Marc Moosbrugger – Told You
This label is one of the most consistent places for high quality Deep House tracks. This one is no different which a solid foundation topped off with some interesting ornaments and decoration. The vocals are smooth and there is a little future house influence in the accompanying synth choice.

Flamingo Recordings
Peter Luts – Mobius (with Funkerman Remix)
An easy-going track with a clean sound and a bouncy bassline. It has a Progressive House sort of evolution within it with each of the synths gaining more power as the track moves forward. The Funkerman Remix (2/5) simply lays a house percussion set over the original which takes away the progressive elements and makes it sound much more repetitive.

Glass Air
The Glitch Mob – I Could Be Anything
This band is what first brought me into EDM after I heard “Fortune Days.” Their debut album was much more relaxed and emotional whereas their sophomore album was filled with club-ready bangers. This upcoming album is shaping up to be the perfect marriage of the two with their initial single, “How Could This Be Wrong,” featuring a lot of the sounds from Love, Death, Immortality. “I Could Be Anything” is much closer to the Drink the Sea sound and it’s remarkable to hear that sound with their new technical prowess. This track features and emotional soundscape filled with all the glitches and quirks that make the Glitch Mob tracks so special.

Ignite Recordings
Firebeatz & Madison Mars – Rock Right Now
After last week’s subpar release, Ignite Recordings has redeemed themselves with this banger. The classic “It Takes 2” acapella leads into an absolutely bomb-ass drop with many different scenes and a simple melody to hold it all together. The breakdowns are functional, just unique enough to listen through without skipping. The second drop takes it up an octave which makes it sound much crazier than the first for better or worse depending on your mood.

Lowly House
Jordan Jay – Fly With Me
Amazing vocoder work and a clean Future House drop are the two biggest reasons to save this track to your Spotify or download it for a mix. It’s bright, joyful, and conveys a lot of positivity, you won’t want to miss this one.

Mad Decent
Juyen Sebulba – Resist
A fantastic Warehouse Bass track with fantastically dirty kicks and a sharp, strong bassline. An easy track to lose your mind to. The vocals and melody are very repetitive so you really have to be in the right altered state of mind to enjoy this track. It packs that raw, club power. How could you resist?

ATTLAS – Treehouse
A nice, bright techo/progressive house track which evolves beautifully as the track plays on. Its arpeggios and production value make this the perfect addition to any study mix.

Musical Freedom
Bali Bandits – Voulez Vous
Man I have been waiting for this one since it was first premiered almost a year ago. This song is very identifiable as a Bali Bandits track as they’ve been using the same synths since their remix of “Natural Blues” almost two years ago. At this point, the sound is starting to become rather harsh on the ears but I personally think it’s one of the best uses of their sound since KABOOM.

Protocol Recordings
Tom Tyger & FaderX – Rave Me
A single, four-bar melody is the guiding force of this track. While the synths and bass change and evolve throughout, the lack of melodic diversity holds this track back. While I’m always happy to see FaderX succeed and gain increasingly bigger releases, I’m disappointed by the laziness of the track.

Syzz & Reggio – Joker
While the track seems to predominately feature Reggio’s sound, this is still a bangin’ collaboration that I’ve been waiting for since I first heard it as an ID. I reckon Syzz did some work on the breakdown and buildup, you can also hear his signature percussion in the second drop. The melodies are powerful, as should be expected from these two. This collab won’t let you down.

Lugovskiy – Broken Glass
A marvelously gorgeous track with beautiful soulful vocals by Chris Calvert and clean basswork. What sets this track apart is the dynamic elements which keep the song interesting despite what initially sounds like a basic house track.

Smash The House
ANGEMI – Show Your Flame
What is going on with this label. Following last week’s generic Psy-Trance track with an equally generic Tropical House track is not really what I’d call progress. This major-key piece of summer garbage brings nothing new to the table. I miss the old days of Melbourne Bounce ANGEMI.

Spinnin’ Records
Cade – Warning Sign
Heartfelt, country-influenced vocals guide this midtempo track. Featuring a syncopated bassline, this radio ready track falls right into Spinnin’s effort to become more accessible and gain a larger Spotify audience. I for one am perfectly fine with this shift as this is a solid track, if not particularly memorable.

Justin Mylo – Chasing Shadows
He’s back! After almost two years without a major label release, Justin Mylo has returned with a Future Progressive House track in the style of Florian Picasso, Mesto, and Jay Hardway. The vocals are fine, they do their job, but the bright melodies in the drop and second breakdown make this track a fantastic addition to any spring or summer mix!

Universal Music
Merk & Kremont – Hands Up (feat. DNCE)
This song marks a huge departure from Electro and Bass House for the Italian Duo with this radio-ready release. Merk & Kremont have always been masters of the bassline and this track is no different. They’ve gone for sort of a indie sound with youthful vocals guiding the track. The only way you could have known this was a M&K track is from the bass work and the use of brass. I think this is a great direction for the group and I look forward to their next releases.

Other Notable Releases
Brohug – Killing EDM
This self-released track with a title like that certainly caught my attention. It starts out with Brohug’s signature Bass House style but after the first drop it quickly turns into a bootleg of Rage Against the Machine’s “Killing in the Name Of.” There isn’t much change to the original, not even a tempo change. The track picks back up into the same drop as the first one. It’s a pretty simple track, I guess if you wanted a mix-ready version of the song you now have one with a Bass House drop.
2.5/5
Nukid – Mansion
A remix of Nipsey Hussle’s 2011 song, “Tha Mansion,” Nukid transforms the subpar production of the original into a Bass House banger. It almost comes off as a more energetic Brazilian Bass track due to his choice in bass, but nonetheless it’s clean, heavy, and palatable.

Official Remix Alerts
Mike Williams & Dastic – You & I (The Remixes)
After a the remix competition, I feel like we’ve all heard enough of this song. Regardless, Spinnin’ Remixes has put out two official remixes by Axollo and BVRNOUT. The Axollo Remix (4/5) slows the tempo down and gives it a Bass House meets Future House sort of vibes. It’s a great combination of groovy and emotional. The BVRNOUT Remix (1/5) is straight trap and comes off like a cheap festival trap bootleg. Considering some of the great entries in the remix competition, I’m surprised they went with his version of it.
Armin van Buuren – Sex, Love, and Water (Mark Sixma Remix)
They’ve really been putting remixes out like crazy for this song. I won’t go into the other versions (Unless you’d like to leave a comment on your favorite version, then I’ll take a closer look at it) but this remix was premiered at Ultra to a fantastic crowd response and it’s pretty clear why. Mark Sixma takes the true Melodic Trance approach almost to the point of an Electro or Big Room track. It maintains the catchy vocals of the original and adds more melodies and power to make this a ready-made banger for any occasion.
4/5
Rowen Reecks Feat. Dwight Steven – I Wanna Sex You Up (Freddy Moreira Remix)
Freddy Moreira maintains the happy feelings and good vibes of the original and cleans up the drop with some moombah flare. It has a very new feel to the whole thing and feels fairly unique. The synth soars over the drop and brings your ears up into the clouds with it. Would fit great for any summer pool festival.
4.5/5
Marshmello & Anne-Marie – FRIENDS (R3hab Remix)
R3hab turns the original into a tropical house fest which is a perfectly serviceable considering the strength of the source material.
3.5/5
KSHMR ft. Sidnie Tipton – House of Cards (Split Origin Remix)
This is by far my favorite remix of this track. I wasn’t too much of a fan of the original, I felt the production was a bit weak, but Split Origin has taken the vocals and feel and turned it into a massive Future House track fitted with a hardstyle synth breakdown melody and everything. If you were a fan of the original but wanted it better fitted for a high energy mix, this should be your pick!
