Hey Dan! How are you doing!
Hello there! I’m doing great, thank you so much! And I’m super excited about this interview!
Tell us more about yourself. What are your interests, passions, character traits?
My name is Daniel and I am the co-founder of Eonity. I’ve been in the music business since 2014, music has always played an incredibly big role in my life as I love and live for music.
This is one of the reasons why I decided to start my own music label and produce some music from time to time.
Obviously, music is not my only passion. I love playing team sports with friends, the sole purpose of this is to have fun and not really do it professionally. I am also a very talkative person and love to socialize with people, understand their problems, who they are, and share experiences.
What’s the meaning behind your artistic name?
The meaning behind my artistic name is actually a funny story: when I was at a school I was always listening to Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike together with a friend from college, his name is Tobia.
We saw that some people were organizing a sort of newcomer party and we decided to join.
We didn’t really know how if we needed to have a name for it but as we wanted to play music together we decided to connect our names (Tobia & Daniel).
Tobia became Tobi Track and I became Damn Dan resulting in the duo being called Damn Dan & Tobi Track.
Even after Tobia and I decided to split, I thought that keeping the name “Damn Dan” was still a good idea and decided to keep releasing music under it.
After a few years the meme of a guy named Daniel, having white vans somehow killed my name and since then, production is more a hobby for me hahaha.
Where do you get your inspiration?
Honestly, I am not producing much as I am more focusing on the label work. Nevertheless, my inspiration comes from all the music that I hear when people are submitting songs to Eonity.
I can generally say that my heart goes with music that has a lot of bass.
This means that every time I hear a song with a nice bass I’m asking myself how the song was produced and I try to reproduce it.
What is one track that never gets old for you no matter how many times you listen to it?
There’s plenty of songs that from my point of view will never get old and it’s nearly impossible to tell my favorite song of all times as I just love too many songs and too many genres.
Back in the days, my all-time favorite genre was Progressive House, therefore I would say that “Calling” by Sebastian Ingrosso & Alesso is the song that will never get old for me.
What will be the first thing you’ll do (in terms of musical activities) once the pandemic is over?
The first thing I will be doing once the pandemic is over is going to a festival, spending a few days in a tent, and sharing an amazing weekend with party people and music lovers.
Let’s talk about “Modern Poetry”
What was your inspiration for this track?
Modern poetry was done together with Leo aka Lionx, a co-worker of Eonity.
Both of us really love the music and the emotions that Illenium is able to transmit with his music. Therefore we decided to try to get our inspiration from him and do our own version out of it.
How fast did the track come together?
The production process of Modern Poetry was relatively fast, while, when it went into the mixing and mastering process it nearly took up to 8 months.
It is really important to give the right time to each song and try to make it as “perfect” as possible.
What is the story behind this track?
The meaning of Modern Poetry is pretty straightforward: it talks about broken hearts and most of the time, hearts are broken because of love.
Nevertheless, this message is not to be understood negatively but positively: the song is telling each one of us to look forward, be happy and look for something better.
What is the most challenging part of collaborating with other artists?
Collaborating with other artists can be pretty stressful as people do not always have the same goal. Too many creative minds together can sometimes lead to problems, haha.
Nevertheless, collaborating with Leo has never been an issue for me and I always loved doing it and will keep doing it.
Finally:
Any important people in your life you wanna mention, thank, or talk about?
I would like to thank all the Eonity fans & team as they are actually the reason why we can keep going in such a difficult time.
Anything you wanna add to end up this interview?
Yes, “Modern poetry” is a very important song to us and therefore we decided to launch a remix contest song for it.
Producers, make sure to keep your eyes open for the official launch of the remix contest.
Thank you very much for your time!
Thank you, Denitsa, it was a real pleasure!
