Who are you? (Tell us more about what you do in life, where you live, your age, your real name, what elements could define you, …)
We are doing well, thanks for asking. At the moment it is known to be difficult in our industry … The corona pandemic has you firmly under control. But we can still earn our daily bread by doing other part-time jobs.
We both live in Leipzig, Germany. We love our city and the subculture that goes with it. I [Rn86] am 32 myself and Lara [nøvae] is 27.
In 2018 I founded the underground club project “Brotfabrik” with friends, where successful parties were regularly celebrated before Corona.
When did you start producing music?
I started DJing/producing in 2017. Lara too. I have to say that I first really dealt with the topic of producing in university in 2018!
Which style(s) of music are you currently producing?
We ourselves are still in the early stages of producing, but we know which genre we like and where we want to go … our style can best be described as progressive, melodic techno, including indie dance!
Why did you choose it?
We just love the melodies and the groove in this music!
Why are you producing music? And more globally, what does “music” mean to you?
With music, we combine freedom from everyday life, switch off, and make other people happy. Making others happy is the reason we became DJs/producers.
According to you, what is the best way to develop a business in the music industry?
I think to market yourself. Or now in this case … relationships and persistence are important. There is no such thing as a 100% successful way.
What has been your favorite gig (show) so far?
For me, to be honest, there are some very personal good ones … 2 parties in the “Brotfabrik” were legendary. I also found our appearance in the “Westhafen Leipzig” this year very, very successful.
Do you live from your musical activities? If not, do you plan to make a living from music in the future?
At the moment it is a part-time job with the prospect of permanent employment.
For my part, it is my aim that the “Brotfabrik” club project should one day bear real fruit. If you can finance your life with it, all the better.
Do you have stuff in preparation, future collaborations, or personal projects?
Most recently we produced podcasts and music videos for “Eonity”. The club activities are unfortunately completely idle. But they will resume as soon as it is possible.
Let’s talk about your NY special set:
What is the main theme for your set with Nøvae? What emotion do you want to convey?
Our sets should always be about a story.
It should be danceable and always have a groove.
What was your best moment from 2020?
There were many good moments for us in 2020, even if this year was very difficult. The happy ravers we saw at our own parties. was always an incentive for 2020.
What do you wish for in 2021?
We wish for a healthy, better year for our industry, with hopefully nice performances and parties again!
Finally:
Any important people in your life you wanna mention, thank, or talk about?
We have role models like Marc DePulse, Demon Jee, Stan Kolev etc.
Their music goes perfectly with our style. They are very good producers.
Anything you wanna add to end up this interview?
We wish everyone a lot of strength and new courage for the new year. Together we can do it!
Thank you very much for your time!
You too, thank you for your time and see you soon!
