We’re happy to present our Weekly Recap segment thanks to the brilliant work of Pranav Arora. He’ll be picking his favorite tunes of the week and giving a brief review of each of the tracks.
DRYM & Abishek Y2V – I Love You
https://soundcloud.com/drymmusic/drym-abhishek-y2v-i-love-you
This is a very unexpected collaboration between this Indian producer, who has had a few releases on Future Sound Of Egypt, and the ASOT star. The track has been released on Andrew Rayel’s inHarmony label and has many elements similar to Rayel’s usual productions. The tracks drop reminds me a little bit of Rayel’s recent release, “Horizon” and the way in which the vocals are used in the track is similar to that “Let It Be Forever.” The track is a decent bigroom trance offering which could absolutely rock the mainstage at festivals but it lacks that special something to separate it from the rest.

Genix- Mr. H2O
https://soundcloud.com/anjunabeats/genix-mr-h2o-1
This is a very interesting and fresh track from Genix with a very techy bassline along with powerful trance leads. This fusion of trance and techno elements is very unique and has had people waiting for it’s release ever since Genix played it at his set at Tomorrowland. The track stands out from the other releases from AnjunaBeats which are usually a fusion of trance with electro elements. The track is a part of the artist’s two track EPas well as the much awaited AnjunaBeats Worldwide 08 compilation.

Seven Lions & Blastoyz – After Dark (ft Fiora)
https://soundcloud.com/seven-lions/seven-lions-blastoyz-after-dark-ft-fiora-extended-mix
When I saw the title of the track, I didn’t know what to expect because I knew that Seven Lions and Fiora together could only mean an emotional journey was ahead. However, Blastoyz’s involvement meant there’d be a heavy psy influence as well. Seven Lions loves blending elements from different genres in his tracks so I was expecting a melodic track with one drop being a progressive dubstep and the second being a psy drop. Upon hearing the track, I was really disappointed as it wasn’t just psy influenced, but and entire psytrance track which just ruined Fiora’s vocals. While this is fairly generic fair, I did enjoy hearing Seven Lion’s sounds in the first drop and the chanting that was included.

Martin Garrix Ft Khalid – Ocean (Don Diablo Remix)
With two official release packs and countless unofficial remixes, Ocean has seen quite its fair share of remixes since its release. Now Don Diablo is here to give this track a funky future house treatment. The remix is very groovy and has amazing breakdowns which are actually quite euphoric thanks to the strong source material. his remix is a summer hit, and one of the best from the two remix packs in our opinion.

Ephixa – Dreamstate
https://soundcloud.com/monstercat/ephixa-dreamstate
This future house track is one of the best releases on Monstercat’s Instinct label. After future house blew up a few years ago, it’s been plagued by generic tracks just as other genres have been. “Dreamstate” adds more of the sounds from old electro house in an authentic way which is what separates this track from the rest. The drop bassline is similar to Oliver Helden’s production and the buildup and melody are pure bliss to our ears. This track is our favorite release from this week and we hope to see more such releases from Ephixa in the future.

Suyano, No Class & Alicia Madison – Night Like This
https://soundcloud.com/revealed-recordings/suyano-no-class-alicia-madison-night-like-this
Suyano is back with another one of his signature progressive house tracks on Revealed Recordings. This track has the 2011-2014 vibe to it, when Progressive House was at it peak, and has a great melody and energetic drop.It is great to see Progressive house making a return a comeback this year, with emotional tracks like this one. This track lacks a little energy as compared to Suyano’s previous progressive releases like Otherside, Overload, Shockwave and his remixes for tracks on the label. The blissful vocals and signature Suyano sound, make this a summer anthem an instant favorite for the fans of the genre.

Tom & Jame – Never Look Back (Martin Jordan & Jetty Rachers Remix)
https://soundcloud.com/djmartinjordan/tom-jame-never-look-back-martin-jordan-jetty-rachers-remix
Martin Jordan & Jetty Rachers have come to breathe some groove into Tom & Jame’s “Never Look Back.” A short intro and things are off to the races with a call & response structure that highlights the percussion and simple melody that’ll surely get stuck in your head. They took a minimalistic approach with the breakdown, cleaning it up but leaving the vocals intact. One could only hope that they would have added a new melody to the breakdown in a festival bootleg fashion. However, we’ll settle for the interesting drops and look forward to the next release from these two talented producers.
