How did you first get into EDM and production?
I’ve been listening to electronic music since 2005. In 2014, I picked up a copy of Fl Studio software and just starting making whatever popped into my head. After a little bit of that, I decided it was time to get serious and I went online to start reading and watching production tutorials. There’s not really any production schools in my country like there are in places like Amsterdam, so I’ve been self taught for the past four years but it’s my dream to one day study music production in those schools.
You have a really emotional style when it comes to your music, where do you get your inspirations from and how do you translate your feelings into your music so well?
I’m just really an emotional person; it’s embedded deep in my personality. Your music conveys what type of person you are and that’s definitely the truth for me. It all stems from my childhood because I’ve always looked for new ways to make cool vibes and just have fun with it. I make what I feel in the moment and I’d like to think it shows in the final product.
How did you create the track you’re releasing with us? Walk us through the process of creating this track.
“Egypt” was inspired pretty heavily by ancient Egypt (if you couldn’t guess from the title!) but there was so much mystery in that time so I tried to make a song that captured what I felt that era was about. I thought this was a really cool concept so I went about finding Middle Eastern sounds and I started to make this track while watching documentaries about Egypt and listening the music. I finally got the vibes and melodies and the rest is history!
Tell us more about your new enterprise, Roteck Artworks.
Roteck Artworks was a really small project that was my idea of an online graphic design service. After I got things off the ground, I just started to make a couple designs on Facebook and I finally got my first customers: Leo and David Vega! I work with artists and record labels to make them logos and 2D and 3D designs. We’ve just started making clothing designs, so feel free to contact us if you need something like that!
Do you do any ghost production?
I used to but I don’t do that anymore. I initially got into it to improve my skills.
What do you do when you’re not making music or doing artwork?
I am always doing something and looking for new ideas!
Do you have any funny EDM experiences to tell us about?
– I uploaded one track in 2016 and it was bad mixed but it had a cool feeling and everybody liked it. The funny thing is that I paid promo for that and I couldn’t cancel it. Anyways still there the name of that track is “Kygo feat Conrad – Firestone (Roteck Remix)”
What are some of the goals you hope to reach by the end of 2018?
I want grow Roteck Artworks with new designs and clothing and I want to continue releasing the music I’ve made with all my love!
