Interview with the Multi-Talented: Sky Roses

Sky Roses is a 20 year old multi-talented artist, photographer, and producer from Chester, UK. His latest release with Eonity with Tritan is available now!

How did you first get into EDM?

20 chester, UK, For me my first introduction to EDM was growing up my dad would always play a lot of 90’s trance CD’s! My first introduction on my own though was the original guys like Flux Pavillion, Excision, and Bar9! – The thing that made me decide to learn to produce was actually a combination of music and my best friend. He showed me FL right after I heard Seven Lions “Days To Come” for the first time and I got engrossed immediately. I have always had a musical background since I was younger, performing in multiple bands and musical theatre growing up, it seemed like a natural transition! As I mentioned, growing up I’ve always just sang, in all sorts of shows and bands, I actually stopped singing for a long time until a good friend convinced to try again and now I try to use my vocals in all of my music (even chopping up my own vocals on songs that don’t require full recordings!)

Anant says you all found each other when you commented on one of his tracks, what do you have to say about how you this track came together? Could you tell us more about the ins and outs of the making of the track? Timeline, process, division of labor, etc?

So yeah, he’s not far off! We both ended up being released on the same label Exobolt! and I found some of his music through there and knew I wanted to work with him immediately! so he asked to hit me up with something after we started talking and it commenced from there! Eternal Dreams actually went through several versions! Tritan sent me the initial version and I reworked the stems completely and made a full length song without vocals! Sent him it back and he tore it apart again and fully finished the song, eventually we decided that to round the track off I could write some lyrics with some strong meaning to us! So the track is very half-half rather than just me singing over his song (though we have another song of his that I just finished up a vocal feature on!)

And what do you do outside of music?

In life I’m what I like to state as “Hyperprolific” with everything from music to all aspects of my life. So I’m always creating a huge amount of stuff. Outside of music I’m a freelance graphic designer (which is my main work currently!) and I design all sorts of stuff from album artwork to logo’s and social banners! I post new art everyday on my Instagram which you can find at @jason_skyroses. I’m just finishing my third year of university and slowly making my way into full time work so hopefully I’ll still be able to balance my time well!

Finally, what has been your proudest moment and what are you looking to accomplish next?

As I said, I’m a bit of a multi-profession person so I’ve managed to land a few spots I’m proud of recently! Firstly, getting uploads on Airwave Music and Maron Music; I’ve looked up to the owners for such a long time! And secondly, I recently got the privilege of having my art featured on the label Spirited for Party Ghost’s tune “Cycle” which was amazing because I’ve listened to him for 4 years! And of course I’m extremely excited for this huge release on Eonity. Also keep an eye out for an ambient EP coming real soon!
